Charlie C.”Bud” Smith, Jr, 70, died June 14 at the VA Hospice in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucile and Charlie Smith, Sr., and is survived by his sister, Dinah (Bill) Hanvey of Pensacola, Florida; a number of cousins; also, two special Tuscaloosa veteran friends, Thomas Franco and Nelson Ortiz. Bud graduated from Decatur High School and the University of Alabama. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and worked at Sherwin Williams over 20 years. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 30, 11:00 AM at Roselawn Funeral Home with Dr. Truman Sandlin of Germantown, Tennessee officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00. Following the service, burial will be at Decatur City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, any memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans Chapter 1, 448 65th Street, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405. Roselawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
