Mr. Charley Armstrong was born to Joe Lee and Lizzie Lyons Armstrong on
December 31, 1947 in Nettleton, MS. He was the baby boy of ten children born to this
union. He peacefully departed this earthly life at home on November 7, 2021.
At an early age he professed his hope in Christ at Jerusalem M.B. Church in
Nettleton, MS.
He graduated from Sims High School in 1968, being the last segregated graduating
class before integration. According to his classmates, he was a master speller. Spelling
words that most could not even pronounce. After high school, Charley began working in
manufacturing at Malone & Hyde, where he remained a valued employee for over
twenty years. He was an avid sports fan who could recite countless facts about
numerous athletes and teams. His love for sports would lead him to challenge anyone.
He was always determined to win. Frequently losing to his big brothers, but never
backing down. He lived life with the same tenacity.
Charley leaves to cherish his memories: three sisters: Maggie Partlow of Detroit, MI,
Sue Arnold of Plantersville, MS and Mattie Pruitt of St. Louis, Mo; two brothers:
William Armstrong (Pearlie) of Tupelo, MS and James Armstrong (Barbara) of
Plantersville, MS and brother-in-law: Wayne Braddock of Blue Mountain, MS. He also
leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Cornelius (Shirley) and Johnny,
sisters: Alma Tucker (Andy), Ilue Brim (Willie James) and Lizzie Braddock.
