Charles Wilburn Malone, age 65, of Tuscumbia, died Saturday, October 22, 2016. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, October 25, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Wednesday, at 1:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. Jeff Abrams, Joey Counce, and Gary Cosby will be officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Mr. Malone was a native of Colbert County and served in the United States Army National Guard. He was a retired firefighter from the Tuscumbia Fire Department. Mr. Malone also was a co-founder of the Colbert Heights Volunteer Fire Department, and served as chief. Charles was a member of Tuscumbia Church of Christ.
Preceding Mr. Malone in death was his father, John A. Malone.
Survivors include his mother, Wilma Lee Malone; son, Shawn Malone and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Trevor and Drew Malone; brother, Bobby Malone and wife Sue; sister, Brenda Hester and husband Larry; and nephew Steven Hester, his wife Teresa, and their children, Seth and Shaylee.
Pallbearers will be Trevor and Drew Malone, Steven Hester, Brad Counce, John Blackwell, Steve Grissom, and Paul Pate. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Tuscumbia Fire Department.
The family would like to express their gratitude to a special cousin, Peggy Brown, the doctors and nurses at Northwest Alabama Cancer Center, to the nurses and staff of ECM CCU (especially Stephanie), to Dr. Clarke and staff at the Radiation Oncology Group, and to the employees and staff of the Muscle Shoals Fire Department.
