Charles Wayne Jones, age 79, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at his home. Graveside services will be conducted at 11am Friday, July 26th in the Oakland Cemetery with Bro. Michael Smith officiating. Bryan Jones, Brandon Jones, Patrick Jones, Cole Jones, Jarrett Pentecost, and Kelby Chowning will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Jeremy Slate, Joe Slate, Kevin Jones, and Joedy Hallman.
The family will receive friends from 4-8pm Thursday at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield.
Mr. Jones was born July 14, 1945, in Springfield, to the late Albert Lee Jones and Dorothy Ogg Jones. He was the Owner of Sho Express, the Transportation Manager at NASCO Manufacturing, and a member of North Springfield Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Brenda Carolyn Jones; brother, Bobby Lee Jones; sisters, Joyce Slate and Sue Hallman; and step-mother, Hazel Jones.
He is survived by his sons, Bryan (Shelley) Jones, and Brandon (Amy) Jones; 4 grandchildren, Paige, Patrick, Brooke and Cole; and 7 great grandchildren.
Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
