Charles Wayne Brizentine (Mr. Charlie), age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2020, at his residence in West Melbourne, Florida. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at 2:00 PM at the Brownsville Funeral Home, Brownsville, TN with burial to follow in Salem Cemetery, Gadsden, TN. A Visitation for Mr. Charlie will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the Brownsville Funeral Home. He was born in Humboldt, TN to Albert Brizentine and Ada Shaw on October 28, 1933. He worked for the Haywood County Board of Education as a school bus mechanic and bus driver. At one time, two of his grandchildren rode his bus. He worked alongside Mr. Sonny Reese, and they both retired around the same time. He loved to play the guitar at church, and he also loved to go to Crestview Healthcare and Rehab to play and sing for the residents. Charlie Brizentine is survived by his wife, Mildred Carol Brizentine of West Melbourne, FL; two sons, Hank Brizentine (Dawn) of Jackson, TN, and Billy Brizentine (Ashley) of West Melbourne, FL; four grandchildren Daniel Walrop, who serves in the United States Army, Britany Allee of Lenexa, Kansas, Sydney Morris of Fort Bragg, NC, and Bryce Brizentine of Grand Forks, ND, and five great-grandchildren Karter Brizentine of Koko, TN, Emery Brizentine of Koko, TN, Adrianna (AK) Waldrop of Brownsville, TN, Lucy Morris of Fort Bragg, NC, and Charlie Morris of Fort Bragg, NC. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Wesley James Brizentine. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38301-9908, or LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, 50 N. Dunlap St., Memphis, TN, 38301. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Group.
