Charles "Chuck" W. Holland Charles W. “Chuck” Holland,77, was born January 8, 1944, in Athens, AL and peacefully passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Opal Holland, two sisters, Dorothy and Sarah and grandson, Jacob C. Salter.

Chuck met his beloved wife Naomi “Nai” in 1961 and they celebrated 55 years of marriage this past June. They enjoyed traveling all over the world, spending time with kids/grandkids and close friendships.

Chuck was a devoted husband, loving father, caring brother, and exceptional grandfather. He was a humble man of God and faithful member of Farley Community Church. He was kind, very generous, and a true man of his word.

Chuck was a 1961 graduate of Athens High School and completed a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University in 1971. He began his career at Alabama Power in Birmingham, AL before moving on to GE Gas Turbines in Greenville, SC. In 1973 he began his Government Service career at Warner Robbins Air Force Base. He then continued to the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Huntsville Center in 1978, with a combined Civil Service of 35 years, retiring in 2008.

He is credited as being one of the original engineers that established the first Mandatory Center of Expertise in the entire U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in Utility Monitoring and Controls. He was a licensed Professional Engineer, great mentor and friend to countless young engineers and coworkers, and a major contributor to critical projects including installing systems within the Pentagon. After retirement he started a successful engineering consulting firm, UCAM, as an Electrical Engineer consultant.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi Holland; son, Charles Wesley Holland Jr.; daughter, Amy (Ken) Salter; grandchildren, Evan Salter, Serenity Holland, Joshua Salter and Charles Wesley Holland III; and sister, Jeanette Holland

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, August 25 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the service immediately following in the chapel. Burial will follow in Hampton Cove Cemetery.
