Charles Rogers – Obituary

Charles W. RogersMr. Charles Rogers, 82, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the North MS Medical Center Hospice unit after a lengthy illness.  He was born June 11, 1936 in Tupelo, the son of Hansell and Ripple Hood Rogers.  A graduate of Mooreville High School, he was an outstanding basketball player and attended Itawamba Junior College on a basketball scholarship.  Charles worked for 34 years as a machinist for Delta International.   He enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, and of course was an avid basketball fan.  He was a member of the Northeast Church of Christ.  Charles loved his family dearly and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 PM Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the Lee Memorial Chapel with Ministers Johnny Richardson and Jackie Clayton officiating.  Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday.

Charles leaves behind his wife of 61 years,  Dot Rogers of Saltillo; 3 children, Tammy Richey (Sean) of Saltillo, Timothy Rogers (Kim) of Fulton, and Charlotte Dearman (Louie) of Tupelo; a brother, Kenneth Gillentine (Judy) of Nettleton ; a sister, Louise Gable of Mooreville; 4 grandchildren, Lauren Richey, Ashton Richey, Corey Rogers, Aimee Fowler, and Steven Rogers; and 4 great-grandchildren, Lorelai Fowler, Kenleigh Rogers, Xan Rogers, and Sabey Rogers.

He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Rogers, and his parents, Ripple Rogers Cayson and Hansell Rogers who passed away when Charles was an infant.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Smith, Jerry Willis, Hugh Greene, Wilson Speck, Pat Allen, and Jeff Michelletti.
