Charles Robert “Bob” Simmons, 79, of Sheffield, died January 15, 2016. Visitation will be from 11a.m. until 12 noon, Wednesday, January 20 at Highland Baptist Church, Florence. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Larry Smart and Mike Obrien will officiate.
Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by parents, Irma Leah Brock and Howard Lee Simmons.
He was a minister, instructor at Northwest Shoals Community College, member of Highland Baptist Church and graduate of Howard College at Samford University. He is survived by wife, Virginia Calvert Simmons; son, Ashley Calvert Simmons, Sheffield, AL; daughter, Leigh Heather Simmons, Minneapolis, MN; brothers, Kirby Simmons, Villa Rica, GA and Jack Simmons, Harvest, AL; sisters, Brenda Simonds and Betty Simmons Papile; grandson, Jackson Simmons, Minneapolis, MN.
Pallbearers will be Perry Calvert, Michael Calvert, Larry Smart, Craig Martin, Todd Smart and Ashley Simmons.
