Ray StephensCharles Ray Stephens, 87, of Dora, died peacefully on Sunday May 7, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was a retired coal miner from Jim Walter Resources and a member of the UMWA. He was a member of New Life Christian Assembly Church in Dora. He enjoyed keeping his yard neat and clean and decorating for Christmas. He loved to fish, garden, travel, and most of all, spending time with his family. He was a man of steadfast prayer and faith. Ray had a passion for serving Christ and was faithful to his local church and community. He will be lovingly remembered by the many lives he touched.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 2:00 pm at New Life Christian Assembly Church, 25 Cut and Curl Rd. Dora, AL 35062. Rev. James Aycox and Rev. Kieth Owens will officiate. Burial will follow in Brasfield Cemetery in Burnwell. Visitation is Wednesday night 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha Mae Stephens.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Martha Nell Stephens; his daughter, Debbie Stephens Hubbard; son, Randy Stephens and daughter-in-law, Lisa Stephens; daughter, Donna Stephens Harbin; grandchildren, Eric Stephens, Summer Ellis Paquette (Jordan), Amy Stephens Hall (Jeremy), Jamie Harbin, and Will Fanning; great grandchildren, Ben Stephens, Stephen Hall, Mary Elizabeth Hall, Carter Paquette, and Elliana Paquette. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
The family would like to thank special friends, Bruce and Rhonda Willis, caregivers, Tammie Tipton and Jodie Hodge, and Gentiva Hospice Care of Jasper.
