Charles Ray Rowland, 75, departed this life for his eternal reward from his residence in Columbus on Thursday, October 6, 2022.  Ray was born in New Albany on December 28, 1946 to the late Charlie Rowland and Lena Mae Hall Rowland.  He grew up in Union County and attended the public schools there. Ray married Martha Sue Lindley on June 3, 1966.   They lived in Union County, in Memphis and later moved to Columbus about 30 years ago where he lived until his death.  Ray was a star on the Mid South Wrestling Circuit for years.  He later chose Truck Driving as a career and drove for his brother’s firm, Rowland  Trucking Company, for many years, as well as other carriers. A long time pipe smoker, Ray enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and following the NASCAR Circuit especially Dale Earnhart, Jr. and Dale Jarrett.

A time of visitation only will take place from 2:30-4:30 PM Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo.  There will be no formal service.  Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their friends.

Ray is survived by his wife, Martha Rowland of Columbus;  his children, Charles “Bo” Rowland (Jana) and  Kevin Rowland all of Aberdeen; and Tonya Rowland of Columbus;  5 grandchildren, Kevin Ray, Alicia Pittman,  Austin Browning, Kelli Mason and Tiffany Sanders.  5 great grandchildren, Colton, Hunter, Madeline, McKinley and Rhett; his brother, Buddy Rowland and wife, Kay of Michie, Tenn.   He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Melissa Rowland, a grandson, Cody Pittman and a brother,  Gene Hall.
