Charles Ray Owens, age 68, resident of Santa Fe, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 22nd at 5:00PM with military honors provided by Herbert Griffith American Legion Post 19 at Heritage Funeral Home with Sherry Ladd officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the funeral home.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Ray was born September 24, 1953 in Maury County and was the son of the late Charles Fletcher Owens and the late Dorothy Hopwood Owens.  He served our country as a Marine Corps and worked as a machine specialist for General Electric and Peterbilt.  He was a talented carpenter, electrician, and plumber and even built several houses.  He also was an experienced heavy equipment operator.  Ray enjoyed competing in bass tournaments, fishing with his son, and deer hunting.  He played softball and coached a boys softball team.  He liked to play guitar and sing.  Ray  adored time spent shopping with his daughter, Christy, and was an avid Tennessee Volunteers and the Tennessee Titans fan, always watching the football games.  Ray was a member of Santa Fe Baptist Church.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

 

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Slaughter Owens of Santa Fe; son, Timothy Owens; daughter, Christy Owens; brothers, David (Jeannie) Owens of Hampshire and Danny (Lynette) Owens of Santa Fe; and grandchildren, Michael Ray Owens, Christina (Ricky) Littrell, Elizabeth Armstrong, Katlyn Armstrong, and Amelia Elizabeth Littrell.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be all members of The Maury County Bass Club, Steve Clark, Joey Potts, the employees of Stoneybrook Golf Course, and the employees of R & R Distributing Company.
