Mr. Charles Ray Hickenbottom, age 79, of Morrison, TN, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Ascension St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN. He was born on August 28, 1944 in Gary, Indiana, was retired from AEDC, and owned his own welding shop. He was a member of The Vine Baptist Church, was a Master Mason with the Ezel Morrison Lodge No. 381 and held numerous positions within the Lodge, was a lifetime sponsor of the National Wild Turkey Federation, a Bass Master member, and all-around avid Outdoorsman including all things hunting and fishing. He was a union member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 572; served his country actively in the U.S. Army and retired from the Tennessee National Guard. Most of all, he was always lending a helping hand to those in need and loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his daughters Regina (Mark) Campbell and Emily Hickenbottom, grandchildren Brandi (Job) Kriebel, Brett Campbell, and Bryce Campbell, twin sister Kay Holt, sister Cathy Cagle, brother-in-law George (Rusty) Selvidge, Jr., many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of beloved friends. Mr. Hickenbottom was preceded in death by his parents Byrd Moses Hickenbottom and Edith Marguerite Everhardt Hickenbottom, and his devoted wife Sharon Sue Selvidge Hickenbottom.
A funeral service for Mr. Hickenbottom will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00 A.M in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Greg Moser and Bob Dennis will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Military Grave Rites will be administered by V.F.W. Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. A Masonic service will be conducted on Thursday evening. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M at McMinnville Funeral Home.
