Charles Ray Carter, age 64 of Fort Payne, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 at his residence. He was born on April 19, 1960 in Ferriday, Louisiana.
Charles was a highly skilled master painter and worked over 40 years in the Auto industry, mostly with Spillman’s Body Shop.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carlos Stanton officiating. Burial will follow in the Collins Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. hour of service.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Carter; children, Dawn Scott of Waterproof IA, Christopher Neal of Clayton, LA, Chico Chappell of Fort Payne, AL, Wanda Newsome of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Sheldonna Wise of Fort Payne, AL; father, L.T. Tennessee; brothers, Tony Porch of Cedar Rapids, IA, Carlos Stanton of Gadsden, AL, Nathaniel Stanton of Richmond, KY, and Solomon Stanton of Odenville, AL; sisters, Evelyn Green of Shreveport, LA, Debra Nickles of Oxford, AL, Valerie Stanton of Gadsden, AL, and Karen Stanton of Woodstock, GA; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Katie Mae Carter; brother, Ralph Carter; and sister, Joyce Underwood.
