Charles Randall Hughes, age 72, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 peacefully with dignity at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. He was a native of Lawrence County, TN, retired farmer and brick mason. He succumbs to an extended battle with cancer. Optimistic to the end he loved nature, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, and visiting with friends and family.
He was the son of the late Frank and Mable Hughes and brother of the late Helen Belew, and Ruby Hughes.
He is survived by his sister Frankie (Sue) Smith and by his children Paula Shaw and Randall Hughes, 4 grandchildren, Emily Bates, Franklin Hughes, Houston Shaw, and Garrett Hughes, and 3 great grandchildren. He was also instrumental in the lives of Sherry, Randy, and Ralph Ritenour and Gina Pesnell.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the many people who visited him throughout his illness and loved him throughout his life.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Keeping with his wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later date to honor his life. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that all memorials be made in memory of Mr. Hughes to the American Cancer Society.
