Charles O'Neal Pinkerton Mr. Charles O. Pinkerton, age 84, of Langston, Alabama entered his heavenly home on January
8, 2024.
Charles was born in Marshall County, Alabama to the late Hazel Mikel and W.J. Pinkerton on
October 8, 1939. Charles served in the US Army and after his military service, he began his
truck driving career working for Dr. Pepper. He then worked as a truck driver for Brown
Trucking, Spartan Trucking, and Estes Trucking. At Spartan Trucking, Charles made a lifelong
friend in Sylvester Jones who called him Pawpaw. Even upon his retirement, he stayed busy by
volunteering his time at the Douglasville food bank and later at the Albertville Food Bank.
Charles was beloved by all of his coworkers who often referred to him as “Pinky” and “Pawpaw”.
Charles was a cancer survivor having battled 2 cancer diagnosis, along with dialysis for over 5
years.
Charles Pinkerton is remembered as a loving husband and is survived by his wife Florence of
60 years. He was a wonderful father to Sherry Bailey (Rick) and Angie Boswell (Dennis); loving
grandfather (Pawpaw) to Kristen, Daniel (Stephanie), Elizabeth, and Lindsey (Nicky); great-
grandfather to Tyler, Tanner, Saylor, and brother to Van (late wife Linda), Wayne (Nellie),
Shirley (Robbie), Jackie (Jimmy), Janice and Junior.
Charles was a loyal fan to the Crimson Tide and Atlanta Braves. Charles was a member of
South Sauty Baptist Church. In the recent years, Charles’ favorite hobbies were reading his
Bible, playing Candy Crush, and cracking pecans.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, January 11 th at 1:00pm at Guntersville Memorial
Chapel.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, January 10 th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at
Guntersville Memorial Chapel.
Flowers are appreciated; however, you may make a donation to the church they are attending –
South Sauty Baptist Church in Langston, Alabama.
