Mr. Charles “Murph” O’Shields, 92, died on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his residence. He was born Sept. 23, 1923, in South Carolina to William Thomas O’Shields and Nellie Mae Williams O’Shields. He was a textile engineer throughout his working career, employed with Chemstrand, Monsanto and Solutia before his retirement. His parents, William Thomas and Nellie Mae Williams O’Shields preceded him in death.
A memorial service may be held at a later date by his family.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Allan O’Shields; one son, Bob O’Shields (Becky), Decatur; two daughters, Pat O’ Shields and Mary Anne O’Shields, both of Decatur; two brothers, Sonny O’Shields, Alabama and Gary O’Shields, Florida; one sister, Martha Patterson, South Carolina; and one grandchild, Robbie Prim, Decatur.
