Charles Mardis Profile PhotoCharles Mardis, passed away on February 17, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. He was born on July 12, 1946, in Benoit, MS to his parents, Dennis Floyd Mardis and Mary Lou Wiley that have gone on before him. He was married to Barbara E. Rakestraw Mardis before she passed away in 2021.

Throughout his life, Charles exemplified resilience and a strong work ethic in his career as a truck driver. His commitment to his profession touched the lives of many as he navigated the roads with skill and reliability.

In addition to his successful career, Charles had a variety of interests that brought him joy. He found solace in the quiet moments spent fishing and cherished quality time with his children and grandchildren. His passion for music was evident through his ability to play the guitar, captivating audiences with his melodies. Above all, Charles held a deep faith and love for the Lord, guiding him through life’s journey with grace.

The memory of Charles will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his sisters Mary Carnes, Dorothy Marie Carnes, Susie Lee Dickerson and brother Dennis Leon Mardis. He is also survived by his children Kathy Haynes, Terry W. Mardis, Mark Dewayne Mardis, Steven O’Brian Mardis, and Kevin Sean Mardis. He is also survived by his grandchildren Zachary Cawthorn, Chelsey Wooten, Corey Mardis, Nicole Mardis and Sean Mardis; great-grandchildren Analeigh Cawthorn, Marley Wooten, Molly Wooten, Hudson Wooten, Anoraa Turner, Zed Turner, London Moxley and Abie Moxley.

A visitation will be held on February 23, 2024, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Glenfield Funeral Home in New Albany, MS. Following this gathering, a graveside service will take place at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Myrtle, MS from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Bro. Copeland and Bro. Toby Mardis will be officiating the service. 

As we bid farewell to Charles Mardis, may we remember him for his kindness, dedication, and the lasting impact he made on those around him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
