Reverend Dr. Charles Maceo Holsey, Jr. Rev. Dr. Charles Maceo Holsey, Jr. transitioned from our world on Monday, July 29, 2024 to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Charles was born in Fort Valley, GA on January 11, 1964 to the late Charles Holsey, Sr. and Rosa Holsey. It was there that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very young age.

Charles was quite the scholar, garnering several degrees. He earned his Master of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology, his Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology, his Medical Degree, and his Master of Divinity. He was called a “professional student.” It was during his graduate school years that he met the absolute love of his life, Tanja, the one he called “his hero.” They married in 1989 and had three beautiful children.

Charles loved people and wanted to do as much as he could for anyone he could. From the clients of the company he founded that required around the clock care, to his students that he truly cared for and wanted to succeed, of whom admired his mentorship and enjoyed taking his classes, to the congregations of the four churches he shepherded, Charles gave his all no matter what he was doing. He was one hundred percent committed whenever he was working; especially behind the scenes, never complaining, never giving up, never leaving anything undone, and doing it all for The Glory of The Lord.

Out of all the hats he wore, though, that of husband and father were most important to him. His wife and children were everything to him, and they loved and cherished him even more. Those who knew him knew them, without a doubt.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles Holsey, Sr., his mother-in-law, Gloria “Faye” Anderson, and his son, Charles “Chas” Holsey, III.

Charles is survived by a most devoted wife, Dr. Tanja Holsey, who was the love of his life; an adored daughter, Trevor Holsey (Gray); a beloved son, Caleb Holsey; and a cherished mother, Rosa Holsey. Charles is also survived by brothers: Eric Holsey, Alvin (Stephanie) Holsey, and Alex Holsey; father-in-law, Tevester (Joyce) Anderson, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Fernandez (Najiawa) Anderson, Tevester (Sabrina) Anderson, Jr., Timothy Anderson, Sr., and Frederick Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other family and friends, all of whom loved him very much and will miss him deeply.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Saint John African Methodist Episcopal Church (229 Church Street, Huntsville, AL 35810) with Elder Dwight Dillard as officiant and Reverend Dr. Kenneth Love as eulogist.

Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2024 and 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Royal Funeral Home.
