Charles Levi McWhirter 74 of Athens passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Athens Limestone Hospital. Charlie was born May 18, 1942 in Limestone County, AL to Edward and Laverne Griffin McWhirter.
Services will be Sunday, January 10, 2016 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bob White officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Laverne McWhirter; brother, Kenneth McWhirter.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Shannon McWhirter; son, Michael McWhirter and wife, ReShae of Athens; grandchildren, Jake McWhirter, Landon McWhirter and wife, Lindsey, Logan McWhirter and Ashleigh Groce; sisters, Freda Driver of NJ, Patricia Bridges and husband, Randell of Toney, JoAnn Malone and husband, Mark of Athens and Janet Shinkunas of Athens.
Pallbearers will be Jake McWhirter, Logan McWhirter, Landon McWhirter, Pete Shinkunas, Matt Shinkunas and Lee Bridges. Honorary pallbearer will be Ashleigh Groce.
