Charles Lee Eckles, age 89, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, died, Friday, January 27, 2017. The visitation will be Monday, Jan. 30th from 1:00 to 2:00p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral will follow at 2:00p.m in the chapel. Earl Peanutt Montgomery and Robert Adair will be officiating. Interment will follow at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Eckles was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in WWII. He owned several barber shops in the area over the years. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church and was a past mayor of Muscle Shoals.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Helen Eckles, second wife, Jean Eckles; daughter, Susan Eckles; brothers, Bobby, Fred, and Jimmy; sisters, Nelda Blakenship and Hazel Wade; step-son, Danny Taylor; and granddaughter, Jamie Allman.
Survivors include his wife Melba Darlene Eckles; son, Bill Eckles; daughter, Debra Adair; step-daughters, Brenda Thomas (Chic), Sandy Faber, and Judy Holt; grandchildren, Jimmy Eckles, Rusty Eckles, Ty Hodges (Jill), Stacy Williford (Robbie), Chris Taylor, Dana Loeppky (Ian), Nikko Hamersly, Ethan Holbrook, Matthew Adair (Julie), and Rebecca Hellman (Thomas); great-grandchildren, Chace Taylor, J.C. Williford, Andrew Williford, Chalice Williford, Gabriel Allman, Isabella Allman, Lindsey Taylor, Ashley Taylor, Emma Ave Loeppky, and Ariana Hodges; special cousin, Helen Franklin; nephews, Freddie Eckles and Robert Clay Eckles (Melody); and niece, Dixie Eckles.
The family expresses special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, especially Abby. In his own words at the end were “I’m spiritually ready to go, I just hate to leave my loved ones.”
