Charles Howard Hovis Charles H. “Chuck” Hovis, 72, passed away at his residence, after a courageous battle with cancer. He died peacefully surrounded by the care and comfort of his loved ones. He was born September 25, 1952, in Morgan County, to Howard Hovis and Barbara Neville Hovis, who along with his brother, Randall “Randy” Hovis, preceded him in death. Per his request there are no services planned.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years – Beverly Cobb Hovis, his sister- Paula Sutton (Ralph) of Decatur, a son- Shane Hovis (Leah) of Mt Vernon, Illinois, and daughters- Jacquelyn “Jackie Hovis Hunter (Clint), and Micahla “Miki” Hovis, both of Hartselle,

Left to cherish his memory are eight grandchildren – Isabella Hovis, Micahla Hovis, Issac Slaten, Ivadell “Ivy” Brooke Slaten, Logan Gilliam, Keagan Hovis, Mark Hunter (Catie), and DeAnna Hunter and two great grandchildren- AJ Hunter and Juniper Hunter and Many niece and nephews. He was also the best “dog father” to his special
canine daughter- Evie Grace.

Chuck was a 1970 graduate of Austin High School and a graduate of the University of Alabama. He had a forty plus year career in corporate transport serving the industry in Alabama and Florida. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Chuck’s legacy as a devoted family man will continue to inspire future generations. His love and dedication raised the bar for what it means to be a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a great family member and friend. Chuck also wanted to express his appreciation to David and all the employees at Westmeade Pharmacy for their concern, friendship, and assistance during his illness. His delivery customers were special to him and he had many special relationships on his routes.

The family wants to thank Southern Care New Beacon Hospice and Amanda for their care and compassion.
