Charles Everett JenkinsCharles Everett Jenkins passed away Wednesday morning, October 4th, 2023. He was born in the Palmetto Community near Tupelo, Mississippi, on May 1st, 1938 and was 85 years old.

He was co-valedictorian of his class at Shannon High School in Shannon, Mississippi, where he was involved in 4-H, FFA, and Beta Club, and played football and baseball. He graduated Mississippi State University, where he had an academic scholarship, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Mississippi National Guard. He was a retired civil engineer with Tennessee Valley Authority. Jenkins was an active member of Pulaski First United Methodist Church. He was Mason, a Shriner, and a member of Pulaski American Legion Post 60. He served 17 years as a Rotarian, and once served as president of the local club. He was a member of the Giles County School Board for 14 years, and served as vice-chairman for eight years. He was active in the Tennessee School Boards Association, serving on the board of directors for several years and as state president in 1993. Jenkins helped form the local T-ball league and was active with the Giles County Soccer League for 20 years. He served as a Pulaski Alderman for many years, and was Vice Mayor for 7 years. He also served Pulaski on the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Taxicab Committee, and Education Committee.

The visitation will be 12:00pm to 2:00pm Saturday, October 7th, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Pulaski, Tennessee.

A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Zach Moffatt officiating.

The inurnment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Pulaski, Tennessee.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, W.C. and Grace Kirkpatrick Jenkins. His wife Jane Robert Jenkins. His son John Riley Jenkins. Two brothers, Ken Jenkins and Kirk Jenkins.

Charles is survived by:
Daughter, Laura Jane Reynolds of Pulaski, Tennessee.
Grandchildren, Olivia Hewgley, Ellie Reynolds, Lucy Reynolds, Graci Hewgley, and Emma Riley Hewgley of Pulaski.
Brother, Bill Jenkins, of Columbia, SC; Sister, Ann Kowalkoski (Ron) of Elizabethtown, KY; and sister, Sarah Lynn Ruggles (Bill) of Conroe, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Close friend Barbara Puryear, of Pulaski, TN.
