Charles Edwin Googe, Sr., 93, gained his wings on Friday, January 19, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 15, 1930, to Shelby Green and Nellie Nicholson Googe of Marietta, MS. He married Betty Jo Martin on June 23, 1952. They were blessed to have almost 61 years together. He faithfully attended Liberty Church. Charles served in the United States Air Force. He was a retired used car dealer. He enjoyed reading The Upper Room Daily Devotional every day, watching Jeopardy, the Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Hankins and Bro. David English officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
He is survived by his son, Charles Edwin Googe, Jr. “Eddie”; his daughter, Susan Jones (William), all of Booneville; his grandchildren, Shelby Aycock (John) of Tupelo and Preston Jones (Katie) of Marietta; great-grandchildren, Charlie Jones (his name sake) and John Walker Aycock of Tupelo; sister, Katherine Floyd; sisters-in-law, Margaret Googe and Clara Martin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Googe; his parents; and brother James Googe.
Pallbearers are John Aycock, Paul Ray Chaffin, Phillip Cole, William Jones, Marty Lambert, Bob Maddox, Wesley Spencer and Kevin Stevens.
