Charles Edward Powell, 84, passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at Hanceville Nursing Home. Mr. Powell was born in Morgan County, Alabama, to Raymond Atlas and Lizzie Mae Harden Powell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by Decatur Iron and Steel and Willow Products. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by one son, Dewayne Powell; three daughters, Patty McCravy (Perry), Donna Sandlin (Jim) and Melissa Klein (Richard); one brother, Therman Powell (Sun); sister-in-law, Doris Powell; four grandchildren, April Cooper (Wade), Christopher McCravy (Jessica), Wesley McCravy and Chase Powell; also one great grandchild, Colton McCravy.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hartselle Heritage with Brother Perry McCravy officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Methodist Church Cemetery. Hartselle Heritage is assisting the family.
