Charles Edward Holcomb, jack of all trades and master of none, passed away on May 14, 2023, at the age of 76. Mr. Holcomb was born to Russell Artemus “Pete” Holcomb and Opal Virginia Sivils Holcomb on September 9, 1946, in Cullman County, Alabama.

Charles was a charter member of the Jack’s Round Table in Holly Pond. He was also the second charter member of Holly Pond Methodist Church, second only to his wife, much to his dismay. Mr. Holcomb was a carpenter, city councilman, a boat captain, a salesman – who somehow made copper tubing interesting and managed to sale it in seven states, a draftsman, and a friend to many. Charles loved music and had a gift where music was concerned. He drove the school bus and enjoyed being part of the lives of his school children. Charles was also enjoying driving his church family on their recent outings. Mr. Holcomb was always picking on people, and his sense of humor was often his way of saying he liked you. Mr. Holcomb enjoyed reading and trivia. He also loved to talk, and his stories often left you questioning what was truth, and what wasn’t. Mr. Holcomb had a servant’s heart and loved helping and giving to others. He served honorably in the Army National Guard and his love for his country was evident. Charles loved his family, his many friends, his school bus family, and his church family dearly. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Holcomb is preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister, Douglas and Louise; nephew, Brian; and niece, Cynthia.

Those surviving Charles include his wife, Deborah Snuggs Holcomb; daughters, Deletha Hardin (David), Paula Reid (Troy); sons, Lee McGriff (Ashley), Matt McGriff (Heather); grandchildren, Bailey Reid, Miko Hardin, Alliyah Yeager (Hunter), Leighton McGriff, Liam McGriff; and brother, Alfred Holcomb.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Holcomb will be held at Holly Pond Methodist Church on Monday evening, May 22, 2023, at 6 p.m.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is honored to serve the Holcomb family.
