charles eCharles Edward Abner, 76, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at the North MS Medical Center. He was born May 25, 1939 in Marvell, AR to William Mack and Alma Lucille Dillard Abner. He was a retired mechanic and owner of Charlie’s Repair Service for 39 years. Charles served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1965, during the Cuban Crisis. He was Wagon Master of the Good Sam’s Camping Club, a member of Verona Church of Christ, and a reserve deputy sheriff of Lee County. Charles enjoyed camping, golf cart restoration, gardening, and was a CB radio enthusiast.

Services will be 2 pm Wednesday at the Lee Memorial Chapel with Bro. Robert Kingsley and Bro. Wayne Cox officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nell Davis Abner of Tupelo; daughters, Susan Abner Smith and Dr. Sandy Abner Stanton; sons, Charles Edward (Eddie) Abner, Jr. and James Horace Huckaby; his sisters, Patricia Mangum, Doris Ann Funderburk, Mary Hulsey, and Alma McGregor; brothers, Mike Abner and William Abner, Jr.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Abner.

Visitation will be 5-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
