The funeral service for Rev. Charles E. Moore, age 84 of Delta, will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church (North) with Rev. Noel Vickers and Bro. Lamar Welch officiating. Burial will follow in the Lineville City Cemetery.
Rev. Moore passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his home in Delta. He was a Clay County native and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Rev. Moore worked as a carpenter in both commercial and residential construction in the Atlanta area and after his return to Clay County in the early ‘70s. Rev. Moore was ordained into the gospel ministry at the True Gospel Baptist Church in Forest Park, GA and had pastored several churches in the Clay County area. He enjoyed fishing and house painting but above all was an avid reader and student of the Bible. Rev. Moore was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church (North).
He is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Autry (Keith) of Goodwater; two sons: Charles Moore Jr. (Wanda) of Goodwater and Nathan Moore (Sara) of Barfield; two sisters: Joann Moore of Delta and Geraldine Welch (Lamar) of McDonough, GA; one brother, Ralph Moore of Delta; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Rev. Moore was preceded in death by his parents: Willis Clayton Moore and Eunice Leola Sims Moore and one brother, Wayne Moore.
Cody Moore, Clay Moore, Terry Harris, Tony Clements, Jeff Welch and Gary Sprayberry will serve as pallbearers. Mac Brown will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
