Funeral service for Charles E. “Charlie” Brown, 83, will be Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Valhermoso Holiness Church with Bro. Tim Patrick and Bro. Rusty Wilkerson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. His body will lie in state for two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the Church. Burial will be in Valhermoso Holiness Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Church.
Mr. Brown died on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born July 5, 1932, in Limestone County to the late, Warren Charlie Brown and Eura Worley Brown.
He spent most of his childhood in the Cotaco Area, although he traveled throughout the United States and Europe for work. Charlie was an elder Deacon at Valhermoso Springs Holiness Church, diligently assisting his brother and the other elders in the ministry. For a number of years, he was a salesman for the Singer Sewing Machine Company. Afterwards, he and his brothers established Brown Brothers Auto Recycling with their main office in Madison, Alabama. This business led Charlie into catalytic converter recycling. He and his family then established Charlie Brown Catalytic Converters at Somerville, Alabama. This became an international company with trading and sales with China, Germany, and other European Countries as well as sales throughout the United States. He, Nellie and his children worked in the company until Charlie retired and sold the company to a Chinese firm.
