Mr. Charles E. Carr, age 85, of Vernon, AL, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family, on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at his home.

Charles was born January 20, 1937, to Murel and Tezzie Carr.  He was a graduate of Lamar County High School, then served two years in the U.S. Army.  Before retiring, he worked as a truck driver for Boweevil for 55 years.  In his free time, Charles loved to plant large gardens, fishing, playing cards and dominoes, and spending time with his family.

Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Howard; his parents, Murel and Tezzie Carr; three brothers, Buford Carr, Butch Reed, and Donnie Wayne Reed; and three sisters, Polly Livingston, Virginia Hildreth, and Hazel Carr.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 26, at 1:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Bro. Ronnie Elmore officiating.  Burial will follow at Wofford Cemetery.  Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 prior to the service.

Charles is survived by his wife, Joann Carr, of Vernon, AL; three sons, Steve (Kaye) Carr of Winfield, AL, James (Kaye) Carr of Vernon, AL, and Lynn Carr of Columbus, MS; one daughter, Lisa (Butch) Riley, of Gallion, AL; and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
