Charles Dyer Sr. – Obituary

CharlesMr. Charles Dyer Sr., 80, of Rogers Springs
Mr. Dyer passed away at his home on Sunday morning, November 24, 2013.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Monroe Elmer and Callie Baker Dyer. He lived in the Memphis area for many years before moving to Hardeman County 20 years ago. Mr. Dyer was a construction carpenter having worked for Commercial Interiors in Memphis. He was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving in the Marines and the Army during the Korean War. He loved all types of sports, fishing and reading. He was a former Mason and was a member of the Porter’s Creek Baptist Church.

Mr. Dyer is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ruby Dyer of Middleton; two daughters, Janet Small and her husband, Steve, of McAlester, OK and Dianna Hardy and her husband, Bill of Olive Branch, MS; his son, Charles M. Dyer, Jr. of Byhalia, MS; two step-sons, Jimmy Curd of Middleton and Tommy Arnett; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and one “on the way.”
He also leaves his beloved pet dog, Holly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucy Dyer, who passed way in 1975; a sister, Jean Heller; a brother, Bob Dyer; and 2 step-sons, John S. Curd and Paul Arnett.
