Charles David Lindsey – Obituary

Charles David Lindsey of Florence passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the age of 84. The visitation will be Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Church of Christ. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Randy Hargett and Mark Maybrey officiating.
Charles was a native of Lauderdale County and a veteran of the Korean War. He retired as a Safety Engineer from Union Carbide and Engelhand and was a member of the Cornerstone Church of Christ. He was a graduate of Central High School and attended college. Charles was a member of the UNA Sportsman Club where many friendships were made not only with the sportsman members but also with the players and coaches. He had a close friendship with the former UNA soccer coach Graham Winkworth that was like a father and son relationship.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Virginia Lindsey; sons, Chuck Lindsey (Lisa) and Brian Lindsey (Rebecca); daughter, Debra Brooks (Dennis); brother, Raymond O’Neal Lindsey (Louise); sister, Pat Lindsey Sharp; grandchildren, Danielle Lindsey Willcutt (Brandon); Garrett Lindsey, Travis Lindsey, Thomas Lindsey (Megan), Matt Brooks (Mitzi), Leann Brooks Burgess (Dan), and Drew Brooks (Monika); great-grandchildren, Rowan Willcutt, Harper Lindsey, Sydney Brooks, William Brooks, Paisley Brooks, Ava Burgess, Samantha Burgess, Finn Burgess, Nora Burgess, Abigail Brooks, Ella Jo Brooks, and Catherine Brooks and niece and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Drew Brooks, Matt Brooks, Dan Burgess, Garrett Lindsey, Thomas Lindsey, Travis Lindsey, and Brandon Willcutt. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Durham, Donnie Llewellyn, Floyd McGee, and Danny Montgomery.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Jonathan Summers, Dr. Sean Rhuland, Dr. Patrick Daugherty, and Dr. Hemant Patel.
