Charles D. ‘Sonny’ Gray age 73 passed away January 22, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born October 23, 1941 in the Milan-Medina area, the son of the late Walter and Ora Bell Hurley Gray. He went to school at Medina. He entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Campbell as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. He married Christine Austin in 1986. They made their home in Henderson. He was a journeyman electrician working in the industrial field. He was dedicated to electrical expertise.
Mr. Gray is survived by his wife, Christine Austin Gray of Henderson; three sons, Greg Dunn and wife Kandie of Fayetteville, TN, Chad Gray and wife Jeanna of Tupelo, MS and Jason Gray and wife Kim of Henderson; five grandchildren; four brothers, W.C. Gray of Milan, Jimmy Gray of Atwood, Jerry Wayne Gray of Bradford and Johnny Gray of Las Vegas and four sisters, Mary Sue Thornthon of Dyer, Betty Pillow of Milan, Martha Faye Mayo of Attwood and Linda Moore of Dyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild, Jacob Shilfflett; a brother, L.Z. Gray and two sisters, Jean Gray and Margie Akins.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating and burial will follow in Pisgah Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday.
