Charles “Charlie” Wilburn Morris, 89, of Huntsville, Alabama went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Hospice Family Care at Redstone Village on September 21, 2024

Charlie was born in Gadsden, Alabama on June 24, 1935, to James Wilburn and Eva Hutchins Morris. He attended Emma Samson High School and furthered his education at the University of Alabama where he earned his degree in Electrical Engineering in 1961. He was employed by NASA from 1961 until 1999. He had the privilege of working on many NASA programs including the Apollo Missions, Space Shuttle and the Hubble Space Telescope. These projects provided him the opportunity to travel to many different countries including Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Holland and many more.

Charlie married the love of his life, Jan, on August 3, 1963. They enjoyed traveling, gardening, and hosting and attending dinner parties. He loved Alabama Football and attended many games in his early years. He also loved to play golf, baseball, and fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Malone Morris; two children, Scott Matthew Morris, and Stacy Morris Payseur (Barry Payseur); and three grandchildren, Ethan Morris, Kaitlyn Morris, and Hayley Morris.

Charlie was a longtime member of Whitesburg Baptist Church for over 55 years serving as a deacon, usher, 5th grade Sunday School teacher, and delivered meals to shut-ins.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Whitesburg Baptist Church South Campus. The funeral will immediately follow with Pastor Hank Mays and Rev. Scott Payseur officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ethan Morris, Keith Malone, Brent Malone, Andy Malone, John Atherton, and Jeff Hoy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Family Care, 10000 Serenity Ln., Huntsville, AL, 35803.
