Charles “Charlie” Mason Brown age 84 of Athens, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Athens Rehab and Sr. Care. Mr. Brown was born August 10, 1929 in Limestone County to George Washington Brown and Sue Ella Hall Brown.
Services will be Saturday, August 17, 2013 3:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Eddie Littrell officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Reunion Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was a member of Sardis Springs Church of Christ. He was a retired Brick Mason, a former owner of Charlie Brown’s Restaurant in Elkmont, and a retired truck driver for Avigen. Mr. Brown was a United States Veteran of the Korean War, an avid NASCAR fan and a friend to all who knew him.
Survived by his wife, Gladys Brown of Athens; four sons, Andy Brown and wife, Cratie of Franklin, TN, Randy Brown and wife Jo of Athens, Jeff Brown and wife Tina of Opelika, AL and Kevin Brown and wife Pam of Athens; 10 grandchildren, Amy Champion Brown, Randall Brown, Sherriell Brown, Shannon Shelton, Megan Rozell, Charlie Brown, Chisholm Brown, Hunter Brown, Trace Tillery and Justin Tillery; 4 great-grandchildren, Hayden Brown, Zachery Brown, Allison Brown and Jude Champion.
Pallbearers will be James Hughes, Davey Ruf, Chisholm Brown, Randall Brown, Charlie Brown and Sherriell Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Harris and Gary Daly.
