Charles “Charlie” Edward Horton, age 73 of Winchester, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on October 25, 1949, to the late James Edward and Lizzie Mae (Haney) Horton. Before his retirement, he had been employed by TVA and the City of Chattanooga as a cement finisher and was a scrap-metal hauler. He always enjoyed working and almost never missed a day. Charlie loved taking walks in the city park with his four-legged best friend, Toby, when he was able. He was an avid Tennessee Volunteers football fan. Charlie’s wonderful sense of humor and “happy go lucky” personality, as well as his humble and kind nature will be missed by his family and friends. He was a member of the Winchester Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Horton; son, Charlie P. Horton; daughter, Francy Wesson; and siblings, Wanda Rogers, Susie Bohanan, Bobby Horton, Greg Horton, Bill Horton, and David Horton. Charlie is survived by his granddaughter, Erica Wesson; brother, Johnny Horton; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, in the Chapel of Moore- Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. James King officiating.
