Charles C. Cooley, 87, of Oliver Springs, TN, went to his heavenly home of Sunday, February 7, 2016. He was born in Itawamba County, Mississippi on October 20, 1929 and moved to Roane County, TN in 1992. He married Wilma Donald in 1950 and they were blessed with three children. Charles served as a Baptist Minister for 33 years and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, serving as a deacon for 8 years and a Sunday School teacher for 22 years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilma Donald Cooley of Oliver Springs; a son, Roger Cooley and Wife Teresa; daughter, Deborah Gunn; grandchildren, Ginger Vail, Brandy Bunch, Kevin Cooley, Alisha Higginbotham, Jeffrey West, Jason West, Carrie Crawford and Bo Gunn; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Broxie Stuckey of Alabama; a sister-in-law, Joyce Cooley of Mississippi; many relatives and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ceburn and Icie Cooley; daughter, Lynn West; three brothers.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 11, 2016, from 5 – 7 at Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. The funeral service will begin at 7 PM with Bro. Steve McDaniel officiating. Locally, there will be a visitation from 1 – 2 PM Friday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home with the funeral service beginning at 2. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park.
