Charles Allen Killebrew – Obituary

charlesMr. Charles Allen Killebrew, 69, died Monday, September 26, 2016 at North MS Medical Center following an extended illness. Charles was born in New Albany, MS on August 2, 1947 to Eli Killebrew and Marjorie Howell Killebrew. He was a graduate of W.P. Daniel High School, began his collegiate education at Mississippi College and ultimately received a Master’s Degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Mississippi. He furthered his studies at LSU School of Banking and Oklahoma School of Banking. For over 35 years, Charles was a valued employee of People’s Bank and Trust Company, now Renasant Bank, serving in Amory, West Point, Corinth, Plantersville and Tupelo. He retired in 2013 as Senior Vice President. He was a long-time member of Harrisburg Baptist Church. Active in civic and community affairs, Charles was a longtime member of the Amory Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. In Tupelo, he was a member of the East Heights Civitan Club. Charles loved gadgets and electronic devices. A computer whiz, he also enjoyed boating and traveling.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM in the Killebrew/Howell Family Plot at the old Glenfield Cemetery in New Albany. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 today (Tue.) and from 10 AM-service time Wed. all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Joye Hovis Killebrew of Tupelo, to whom he married June 20 l976. 3 daughters, Carrie Killebrew Coggins (John), Jennifer May Dickey (Richard) and Heather May Kidd (Billy) all of Tupelo. 4 grandchildren, Cory Bolen (Christy), Megan Bolen Jones (Bradley), Ben Shurden (Mandolyn) and Chandler Coggins. 4 great grandchildren, Kyleigh Jones, Gemma Jones, Kinsley Shurden and Trevor Bolen. A half -sister, Peggy Wakefield. His brother in law, Guy Hovis and wife, Sis of Ridgeland, MS and his 9-year-old Pomeranian, Mac. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David Killebrew and his beloved dog, Moe.
Pallbearers will be Bill Williams, Mike McDonald, Lawson McClellan, Ryan Hutcheson, Dennis Upchurch, Calvin Roberson, Ricky Jackson and Guy Hovis. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of Renasant Bank.
