Charles Alexander – Class of 2016: Hall of Fame
FLORENCE-Charles Alexander of Florence, Alabama was inducted into the Dixie Boys Baseball Hall of Fame in a ceremony that took place October 16, 2016 in Ozark, Alabama. Mr. Alexander recently announced his retirement as the Alabama Dixie Majors National Board Member.
Charles Alexander made lasting contributions to the Dixie Boys/Majors Baseball program. Alexander’s commitment to the organization spans over fifty years. He started his career with Dixie in 1966 as a coach and within two years became one of the founding members of the Underwood, Alabama Dixie franchise.

In 1970, Underwood community leaders built the first playing facilities for the local league. Alexander was very instrumental in the Underwood local
league franchise hosting successful district and state tournaments.
In 1992, Alexander was appointed Alabama Dixie Majors Assistant Director for District One and served until 1995. Leadership positions within the Dixie Majors organization since 1996 include: Dixie Majors District One Director, North Alabama Dixie Majors Regional Director and Alabama Dixie Majors Assistant State Director.
Alexander’s long standing commitment to the organization also includes his important role as a Dixie Boys National Board Member. For his untiring efforts, the Alabama Dixie Majors Baseball Board of Directors voted in 2014
to co-name their Sportsmanship Awards, given at both the Alabama Pre-Majors and Majors State Tournaments each year, in honor of Charles Alexander.

Dixie Boys Baseball, Inc. was founded in 1957 in Alexandria, Louisiana. The organization continues to meet its mission of providing youth the opportunity to play baseball. In 2016, twenty-five thousand (25,000) participants were involved.
