Charles Albert Boyd, born on December 23, 1941, in Maury County, Tennessee, to the late Harold Boyd and Louise Barnett Boyd, passed away on September 20, 2023. He was a beloved and lifelong resident of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, where he touched the lives of many.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to duty and service. After his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career, working in P.M. maintenance at Zeneca Chemical Company until his well-earned retirement.
A man of deep faith, Charles was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, where he dedicated himself to the Lord and lived as a true disciple. His musical talents shone as he served as a music director for several churches in Mt. Pleasant and lent his voice to the harmonious sounds of the talented musical group, One Accords.
Not only a musician but also an ordained minister and deacon, Charles brought countless couples together in holy matrimony, spreading love and joy throughout the community. In his leisure time, he found solace outdoors, enjoying a round of golf. As a devoted Vanderbilt Football fan, he celebrated his team’s victories with passion.
Charles’s legacy lives on through his daughter, Lisa (Rob) Scott, his grandson, Darrian Shay Scott, and his special friend, Peggy Gammons. He is also survived by bonus grandchildren: Brandon Scott and Carlie Scott, as well as his great-granddaughter, Aurora Scott. Among his siblings, he leaves behind David Boyd, Donald Boyd, Shirley Cube, and several extended family members who will cherish their memories of him. His furry friend, Shadow, was a loyal companion throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Howell Boyd, daughter, Natalie Marie Boyd, and brother, William Boyd.
The family invites friends and loved ones to pay their respects during the visitation on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. The funeral service will commence at 1:00 PM, followed by Charles’s interment in the Garden of Everlasting Life at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Derek Boyd, Lance Boyd, Terry Boyd, Bobby Boyd, Destry Boyd, Kevin Boyd, and Breck Boyd. Charles’s memory is also honored by retired maintenance employees of Zeneca Chemical Company, Dr. Powers, George Davis, Bill Johnson, Harry Parrish, special nurse Pam Runions, and all the medical staff at Maury Regional Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Charles’s name to the Vanderbilt Cancer Center and your local Humane Society. These donations will honor his memory and support causes close to his heart.
Charles Albert Boyd will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy of faith, service, and love will forever be cherished in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.
