Charles A. Burns passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the age of 90. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was born in Cayce, Kentucky, “the best place in the world to be from, home of Cayce Jones!” He was a graduate of Murry State University.
He spent most of his adult life in Huntsville, Alabama, and many of those years at UAH in accounting.
He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Huntsville and “traveled the world” with his friends. There he loved music and revealed a talent for dancing in his later years. He never met a piece of chocolate he did not love or a person who did not love him.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Fleta. Survivors include stepchildren, Kathy Williams of Fairhope, Kay Williams Kirchler of Florence, and Rick Williams of Madison; granddaughters, Rachel Williams Dominioni of Peachtree Corners, GA, and Anna Wilkins of Fairhope, AL; and great-grandsons, Eli, Asher and Leo Dominioni.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the folks who loved and cared for him at Columbia Cottage, Florence, Brentwood Retirement Community, Muscle Shoals, and Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehab., Florence. We would also like to thank Shoals Hospice who cared for him and was with him at the end of his beautiful life.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30th, 2023 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or any veterans support group or charity of your choice.
