Chad Smith Understands Our Community

With planting season upon us, I’d like to remind everyone of something that our farmers know all too well. That is that running a farm takes a whole lot more than being able to ride a tractor. Just like building a community requires a deep understanding of the needs of those around you.

Since I was a child, I have seen exactly what it takes to build this community. My father, a brick mason, took that task literally, and helped build some of the very structures that some of us call work and home.

My mother, on the other hand, had her own way of helping those around her, through her work at the Tuscumbia Housing Authority, her service at the church, and her work on the Northwest Shoals Foundation Board.

Both of their perspectives have shown me that, no matter what position we hold, we should all do our best to build and grow our community. If elected as District Court Judge, I plan to serve Colbert County with integrity and the sense of responsibility that my parents instilled in me at an early age.

Whether it be serving and mentoring children, working with The Shoals Habitat for Humanity, the Children’s Museum of the Shoals, the WC Handy Festival Board, the Helen Keller Festival Board, and the Northwest Shoals Foundation Board; I have shown the ability to work with others to better our entire community.

A successful judge must have a working knowledge of the community they seek to serve, and I have both the experience and understanding needed. I do have a deep comprehension of the law, but interpreting that law takes more than just the ability to recite it.

Just like running a farm takes more than just being able to ride a tractor.
