LITTLEVILLE-Spring is one of the best times to visit Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve – the waterfalls are flowing and the wildflowers are blooming. This year is even more special as we celebrate the Lacefield’s donation of Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve to Land Trust of North Alabama. For over 40 years, Jim and Faye have preserved Cane Creek Canyon’s natural resources, welcoming visitors to share this very special place in northwest Alabama. The donation of this property to the Land Trust ensures its continued conservation and public access. On April 29, we will wrap up Earth Month by celebrating the legacy of the Lacefields and the future of Cane Creek. We will also be recognizing a generous donation from Essity that provides funding for a trailhead kiosk and a tool storage bin for trail maintenance.

While the preserve will be open at 7:00 am as usual, we will have special events throughout the afternoon and into the evening. The event is free and open to the public, but donations are appreciated and encouraged!
SCHEDULE:
Saturday, April 29 from 1–9 PM

1-5 PM: Head out on the trails and learn about the wildflowers of Cane Creek. Volunteers will be located at various points along the trails to tell you about flowers.
2 PM: We’ll gather at the trailhead for a welcome from Land Trust of North Alabama and the Lacefield’s as well as the presentation of a donation from Essity to Land Trust of North Alabama.
3 PM: Learn about the salamanders of Cane Creek with Dr. Glenn A. Marvin. Meet at the first picnic shelter down in the canyon, located on the west side of Cane Creek.
5 PM: Music and dinner by the fire at the picnic shelter near the check in kiosk. Join us for some campfire songs and food! Bring a blanket or chairs to sit on.
7:30 PM: After the sun sets, the stargazing begins with Dr. Mel Blake.
