On February 26th, 2015, Cecil M. Newton age 76 passed from this walk of life at home surrounded by his family. He was retired from Champion Paper where he worked for 25 years.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6 – 8 at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Sunday at 2 in the chapel with Bobby Walton and Andy Corbett officiating. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Mahathy, Matthew Newton, Jacob Newton, Titus Legg, Clint Newton, Cole Self, Will Stewart and Reid Newton; honorary pallbearers will be John David Mason and Keegan Mason.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virgie Newton; brothers, Billy (Janice) Newton and Junior (Shelby) Newton. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Newton; daughter, Debbie (Robert) Brown; son, Tim (Carole) Newton; step-son, Jeff (Amy) Mason; step-daughters, Myra Mason and Dana (Jason) Legg; brother, Robert Earl (Freeda) Newton; grandchildren, Emily Mason (Will) Stewart, Adam Mahathy, Kelly Mahathy (Cole) Self, Matthew (Haley) Newton, Megan Mason, Titus Legg, Jacob Newton, Kristin Newton, Carson Legg, Clint Newton, John David Mason and Keegan Mason; great-grandchildren, Finley Mason and Elsie Self.
