Funeral services for Cecil Gaston, 85, of Decatur, will be Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Salter officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 11:45 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
Mr. Gaston died Friday, May 22, 2015, at his residence. He was born January 10, 1930, to Willie Wallace and Etta Adell Glasgow Gaston. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd Gaston; brothers, Carl and Tommy Gaston; sister, Willy Dean White; and grandson, Nathan Nelson.
Mr. Gaston worked in inspection at Wolverine Tube for over 40 years and then retired. He served our country in the Navy for one year, was a member of East End Methodist Church, and raised cattle and farmed.
He is survived by his spouse of 61 years, Kathleen Spivey Gaston; son, Alan Gaston; daughter, Teresa Nelson; grandchildren: Jamie Gilbert, Shaun Gaston, Gaston Nelson, Lindsay Posey, Jarid Gaston, and Abagail Medina; and great-grandchildren, Chayah Bush, Zoey Thrasher, and Ryne Gilbert.
Pallbearers will be Sam Gaston, Wade Gaston, Bobby White, Doug Welborn, Mike Welborn, Edward Smith, and Steve Montgomery.
