Cathy Sue Northcutt Alexander, 69, died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at her residence. She was born September 4, 1948 in Itawamba County, MS to James Northcutt and Wyma Joyce Burton Northcutt. Her desire from youth was to become a teacher and to be a positive influence on her beloved students. She fulfilled that dream by teaching for forty years. Even after retirement, she became an Educational Consultant for JBHM and Generation Ready because she still wanted to be in the classroom. She married her high school sweetheart, Steve Alexander, on March 29, 1968. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Belmont, MS.
Services will be Sunday, December 3, 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Belmont, MS with Bro. Ray Burks and Bro. Steven Sanderson officiating. Burial will be in Belmont Memory Gardens, Belmont, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of almost fifty years – Steve Alexander, Belmont, MS; two daughters – Laurie Alexander Allen, New Albany, MS and Stephanie Alexander Millar, Fairhope, AL; five grandchildren – Kelly Orrick, Colin Millar, Gavin Millar, Gracie-Elizabeth Allen and Cole Allen; one great-grandson – Kason Wigginton; one sister– Jan Hardin and husband, Charles Hardin, Tuscaloosa, AL; two aunts – Louise Northcutt and Laverne Strickland and seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Mack Northcutt.
Pallbearers will be Matt Copeland, Mike Moore, Timothy Gasaway, Lee Ratliff, Frank Swader, Matthew Henry and John Mark Maroon. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Horn, Phil Byram, Kerry Thrasher and all of Mrs. Cathy’s “kids” both male and female.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 2, 5-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Belmont, MS.
