Mr. Cathy Ernest Allen, age 72, passed away December 20, 2023, at his home.
He was born December 29, 1950, in Saltillo, TN, the son of the late Hazel Lee Allen. He grew up in Saltillo and graduated from Sardis High School in 1968. He joined the U.S. Army after high school and served two years during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. He worked at GM in Flint, MI for a time and then he returned to Saltillo. He continued his education taking courses at TCAT in Crump to become and Industrial Electrician. He began working for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 474 in Memphis. He became a Master Electrician and worked as an electrician for many years, and really enjoyed his work and traveling to new jobs.
He was a Master Mason and a member of the Saltillo Church of Christ.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and talking. He married Cathy Henson in November 1973, and they enjoyed fifty years together.
His pride and joy were his four grandchildren and having his family around for Sunday dinner.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Cathy Henson Allen of Saltillo; a son, Jason Allen (Jenny) of Saltillo and a daughter, Melissa Allen Perry (Robert) of Jackson and four grandchildren, Claudia Allen, Cason Allen, Cambree Allen and Bobby Perry.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Joe Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time Thursday.
