Funeral service for Catherine Mae “Peggy” Gillespie Shelton, age 82, of Moulton will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Agee officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Shelton, who died Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at NHC Healthcare in Moulton, was born July 14, 1942, to Percy and Lucy Mae Gillespie in Pawpaw, Michigan. She walked hand in hand with the love of her life, Harold, for almost 62 years. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a tireless worker throughout her life. She was a business owner, a factory worker, a secretary, and an office manager. She retired as the office manager at the Lawrence County Health Department. She was the ultimate boy’s mom to her three sons. She raced and chased them all over the fields of Lawrence County. She could always be found on the bleachers at a baseball field cheering for them. As a grandmother, she traveled across the state to see games, dance recitals, ceremonies, and graduations. She was proud of her babies and made sure everyone knew it.
She is survived by three sons, Keith Shelton (Lavonia), Scott Shelton (Lynne), and Todd Shelton (Angie); two sisters, Christine Guarisco and Mary Ann Myers (Jack); one brother, James Gillespie; five grandchildren, Allie Shelton (Pete Sloane), Connor Shelton (Linsey Bergstrom), Cameron Fossett (Benjamin), Jacob Shelton, and Reagan Parker (Dylan); and three great-grandchildren, Marlee Fossett, Cotton Parker, and Riley Parker.
Pallbearers will be Keith Shelton, Scott Shelton, Todd Shelton, Connor Shelton, Jacob Shelton, and B.J. Fossett.
