After graduating from Coffee High School, she attended Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. She later received her baccalaureate degree from the University of North Alabama with a major in art and did postgraduate studies at UNA, the University of Alabama in Huntsville and the University of Georgia. Cathy was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Florence, taking leadership roles on the Alter Guild and the Flower Committee prior to being sidelined by her illness. She was a member of the Tennessee Valley Art Association and the Watercolor Society of Alabama. She also served several years as coordinator of the Helen Keller Festival Arts and Crafts Show. Cathy worked most of her life as a freelance artist, originally specializing in watercolor paintings, but later in her career she focused on sculpture. Several pieces of her artwork are displayed publicly in Florence, including the bas-relief sculptures in the pilasters at the entrances of the science building at UNA.
Family and friends are invited to a Service of Resurrection to be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Florence, on afternoon of Friday, May 17 at three o’clock. A reception in the Parish House will follow the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Catherine Goode Moeller Endowed Scholarship Fund at the University of North Alabama.
