Catherine Cobb Slone, 84, went peacefully to her reward on July 11, 2024 at her home in Madison. She is succeeded by her husband of 27 years, Bob; stepson Rob Purinton, living in Orlando, FL with his wife, Elizabeth, and their two teenage children, Xander and Ava; as well as a sister Linda Sosebee, in Wichita Falls, TX; plus three nieces and two nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Martin Luther and Vernice Cobb, of Mena, AR, as well as a sister, Doris Gilbert of San Angelo, TX.

Cathy is also succeeded by her church family at Asbury in Madison, where she worshiped, studied, and served. She was encouraged there and lifted up in prayer for 33 years.  Her death occurred following a four decade long battle with MS, through which she thrived by the all sufficient grace of her God and the daily tender mercies of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Cathy was fearless in life, having traveled the world in a wheelchair.  She survived the hazards of an archeological dig in Israel, navigated the Riverwalk in San Antonio, and even a roundabout in Nagpur, India, all in her wheelchair.  She canoed and camped on the Buffalo River in Arkansas (twice), and went over the Nantahala Falls in North Caroline in a raft, even though she could not swim.  She was especially fond of Hawaii, having visited three of the islands a total of ten times.

Cathy was also a fighter.  She spent the last 20 months of her life under in-home hospice care for end-stage MS. She maintained the peace of Christ to the end. She will be missed.  A memorial service will be planned at a future date/
