Catharine “Kitty” Hammons Smith-Gividen Catharine “Kitty” Hammons Smith-Gividen, 83, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

Catharine attended Howard High School in Nashville, TN and later earned an associate degree in computer science from Sullivan College in Louisville, KY.

She was a member of St. Paul Church, Louisville Miniature Club, Mary Queen of Peace craft club and was a lifetime member and chaplain of the Marine Corp League Auxiliary.

Hobbies through her lifetime were Nascar Racing, Louisville Cardinals, Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds, the beach especially Daytona Beach Shores, miniature doll houses, crosswords and jigsaw puzzles. She loved to travel – at home and abroad (Japan, Germany, Austria and Paris France).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Dorothy Ford Hammons, husband of nearly 30 years, David Tigert Smith Sr. and later husband of 14 years, Bill Gividen. Also preceding her in death are her brothers, Stephen Virgil Hammons, Milton Lee Hammons, Donald John Hammons and Ronald Joseph Hammons.

Mrs. Gividen is survived by her children, Debra Gail Smith, Michael W. Smith and wife Cyndi,  David T. Smith, Jr.,  William, H. Smith; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.

Visitation Friday 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Funeral service 12:00PM Saturday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Justin Morton will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville TN. www.woodinchapel.com
